Job Posting: Prevention Coordinator

SUMMARY

The Prevention Coordinator plays a crucial role in promoting and facilitating initiatives aimed at the prevention and reduction of substance misuse and suicides within Wyandot County. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and healthcare providers, to develop and implement programs that improve the prevention and reduction of substance misuse and suicide.

Under the general direction of the Director of Environmental Health, the Prevention Coordinator plans, develops, and implements health promotion objectives/activities in specific health areas determined annually by the agency and program grants. Acts as a public health education resource to community agencies and the general public. Assists as needed with the agency’s media/social media presence and other public health education functions as needed. Works with credentialed Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist Certificate (OCPS) OR Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant (OCPC) supervisor, Business Manager, and Grants Coordinator to ensure compliance with applicable program standards, grant requirements, state regulations, and Board of Health adopted policies. This position is supported by grant funds.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum education of an associate’s degree in Community/Public Health Education, Health Education, Health Promotion, Nursing, Public Administration, Social Work, Education, or other related degree;
• Bachelor's degree preferred;
• Ability to obtain, maintain, and pursue advancement in prevention credentialing;
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License with acceptable driving record;
• Must have accessibility of reliable, safe transportation for work use;
• Appropriate amount of liability insurance coverage of vehicle for travel;
• Grant writing experience preferred;
• Obtain or maintain valid certification for CPR
• Ability to load and unload vehicle with health education materials when needed;
• Ability to complete light office work;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Ability to speak and prepare written material in a concise and effective manner;
• Ability to maintain a high degree of organization, coordination and communication with attention to detail and accuracy

RESPONSIBILITIES

Implements program objectives as outlined in North Central Behavioral Health Board and Sandusky County’s EPIIC grant contract; participates in community health coalitions, provides leadership as needed; and coordinates services with other community organizations to ensure effective use of community resources;
