Wyandot County Public Health has again received federal traffic safety funding to conduct Safe Communities Grant Activities. The Ohio Department of Public Safety’s (ODPS) Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) this year awarded the department $27,500 in federal traffic safety funding.
Ohio Safe Communities is a data-driven initiative to save lives and reduce injuries through collaboration among state, county and local partners. Funding from the Safe Communities Grant is used to conduct traffic safety education and awareness campaigns in Wyandot County related to motorcycle safety, drinking and driving, seat belt usage, and distracted driving. The grant also assists WCPH in monitoring traffic fatalities in Wyandot County and in building partnerships with local and state law enforcement to enact better traffic safety communication and enforcement activities in the county.
