April 14, 2020: COVID-19 Update

April 14, 2020 Wyandot County Public Health COVID-19 Update:

Today we are reporting 13 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Wyandot County. This includes two deaths and no hospitalizations. In addition, we have three probable COVID-19 cases pending. Do not rely on the number of positive tests to determine when you need to protect yourself. Continue to practice social distancing. The Stay at Home Order was put in place to protect citizens through self-quarantine. Please take these regulations seriously to keep Wyandot County healthy.  See our Facebook page for specific Wyandot County data.

As of 2:00 PM Tuesday, Ohio Department of Health reported 7,280 confirmed and probable cases, 2,156 hospitalizations, and 324 deaths in Ohio. For additional statewide case information visit: https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/

Spring is a great time to get outdoors. Although most park facilities are closed, there are over 5 miles of walking trails still available in Upper Sandusky alone. If you decide to utilize these paths, remember to protect yourself and others by following social distancing guidelines, using hand sanitizer, and, as always, pick up after yourself! It may be difficult to keep kids off of playground equipment and swings, but it is necessary to prevent exposure and transmission of coronavirus. Getting fresh air is a great stress-reliever and break from the overwhelming COVID-19 media coverage. Here is some information on getting outside during this time:  https://www.nrpa.org/blog/keeping-a-safe-social-distance-in-parks-and-on-trails-during-the-covid-19-pandemic/
