August 12, 2022, Wyandot County Public Health COVID-19 Update

The walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinics for 18 and older (Moderna and J&J) on Wednesday, Aug. 17 has been canceled due to staff availability. Appointments are available for upcoming COVID-19 vaccination clinics for youth ages six months to 17 years on Mondays and Fridays. To schedule call 419-294-3852. COVID-19 test kits are available for pick up daily while supplies last.

There are currently 89* active cases of COVID-19 in Wyandot County. There are four patients currently hospitalized for COVID-19. Per the Ohio Department of Health, the cumulative case count since March 2020 is 5,854. This includes 4,187 lab-confirmed cases and 1,667 probable cases. Of the reported individuals, there have been 105 deaths. ODH updates these numbers weekly on Thursdays. A total of 5,676* individuals have been released from isolation.

Wyandot County’s community level per the CDC is high (orange). Prevention recommendations include wearing a mask indoors in public, staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and getting tested for COVID if symptoms are present. As of 2:00 PM Thursday, August 11, 2022, the Ohio Department of Health has reported 3,002,043 confirmed and probable cases, 122,882 hospitalizations, and 39,220 Ohio resident deaths. These numbers are updated by ODH weekly on Thursdays. * The current active cases and end of isolation numbers are reported using the 10-day end of isolation guidelines per the CDC’s current end of isolation recommendations. These numbers differ from state reported numbers, which are based on a 21-day recovery period.

** Currently, Wyandot County Public Health counts vaccinated cases as all those who have received the initial dose or doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and not vaccinated cases as those who have not received any doses or did not complete the initial series of the COVID vaccine. At this time, reported vaccinated cases may include individuals who are not up to date on vaccinations.
